Although rainfall is extremely important when it comes to a means of cheap and natural irrigation for plants, it can also prove to be fatal to the flora as well as the fauna that survive on it. The rainfall that harms plant matter actually appears during what is known as an "acid rain". Due to high emissions of carbon dioxide, carbon monoxide, sulphur dioxide,Chlorofluorocarbons, nitrogen dioxide and other such greenhouse gases, the water that evaporates into the atmosphere actually combines with these harmful gases that have been released into the same atmosphere to form acid rain. This rain, as the name suggests, is acidic in nature and can destroy plant cover when it comes in contact with it.
