PGA Tour members do not pay entry fees to play in PGA Tournaments. Other nonmembers pay an entry fee of $400. Also: 1) The Masters is by invitation only 2) No entry fee for the PGA Championship 3) Players pay an entry fee of $125 for the U.S. Open qualifying 4) An entry fee for the British Open is $162. Actually all events have an entry fee and all professionals pay, regardless of status on tour. This includes current members of the PGA Tour. The fee is typically $400. This is an "out of pocket" expense that is not reimbursed by the Tour.

So, if you are pre-qualifying for q-school the whole thing will cost you $4,500. If you have an exemption of sorts that gets you into the second stage it will cost you $4,000.....and so on. 2004's fees were roughly the same. 2006's haven't been set yet and are subject to change from what you see above. How much money does Tiger Woods make for each tournament he wins?
Tiger Woods makes an appearance fee for each tourney, which he receives no matter what happens. If he misses the cut, he still makes between $500,000-$1,000,000, depending on the sponsors and the tourney. Then he also wins purse money, which also depends on the tourney. Suffice it to say that he makes more money just by showing up, regardless of anything else, than most people make in a calender year. Additional note:Tiger Woods only receives an appearance fee for a non PGA Tour event, e.g., when he plays in Dubai, Asia, or Australia. The PGA Tour does not pay fees to PGA Tour members. His endorsement money represents 95% of his income. In 2008, he made over $100 million, but only $5 million of that came from PGA Tour earnings.
