The eye ofprovidence is a religious symbol throughout ages. Although it is most often seen now at the top of a pyramid on the back of the 1$ bill, it has been seen in Egyptian Buddhist and christian texts.

In Christianity (where the eye has originated) it represents the sleepless, all seeing eye of god.

In Buddhism Buddha is referred to as the "eye of the world"

It has been traced to Egypt where the ever looking eye of Horus which watched over temples and homes all over the desert.

The eye of providence (also known as the all seeing eye) is often shown surrounded by a triangle to represent the trinity and encased in beams of light. It is also often shown at the top of a pyramid.
