The famous photograph is of the earth rising with the lunar surface in the foreground. The barren grey nature of the moon compares strikingly with the beautiful colors of our home planet. This was the first time humans had seen what their planet looks like from a distance. The image can be seen at the Related Link below.
No one died during he Apollo 13 mission But someone named Jack Swagert died after
No Apollo mission had any casualties. The Apollo 1 Fire was during testing, not a mission. The Apollo 13 explosion was tough... but no one died.
Apollo 7. Apollo 1 was to have been the first manned mission, but a fire during training killed all three astronauts in the capsule that should have taken them on the first mission.
According to the Planetarium's website, the sample was collected on the Apollo 15 mission.
Nobody died during the Apollo 13 mission
The Omega watch, Speedmaster, is used by the astronauts of the Apollo 11 during its mission to the moon.
The Apollo 11 mission took the first earth visitors to our moon in 1969.
During the Apollo mission a total of 12 astronauts walked on the moon. On each trip to the moon 2 astronauts walked on the moon.
All three Apollo astronauts were aboard for several orbits, but Michael Collins remained aboard the command module when the Lunar Module descended to the Moon. Technically Apollo 2 was the first flight of the Apollo Missions, however i was only a test flight with no humans and never left Earths orbit. Apollo 7 was the first manned Apollo mission but they never left Earths orbit either. The first Apollo mission to actually orbit the moon was the crew of Apollo 8 (Lovell, Anders and Borman). If you mean by first Apollo flight that landed on the moon then Apollo 11 is the mission with Armstrong, Aldrin and Collins. Hard to believe I only have 6 trust points!!!
