At the start of the 2008 season, 44-36-1 in favor of the Wildcats.
Arizona State University and the University of Arizona have been playing football since 1899. Arizona State won the inaugural game between the two schools. Arizona then went on to win the next nine against ASU.
Since 1935, the two schools have an equal record against each other at 35-35-1.
Since 1958, the year both schools competed for the first time as universities (ASU was originally Tempe Normal School and Arizona State College at Tempe), The Sun Devils have held the overall edge over the Wildcats 28-21-1 (including a nine game unbeaten streak by Arizona from 1982-1990).
