Aqua regia which is Latin for royal water is a used to remove gold, platinum and palladium from substrates. It is made by mixing 3 parts of hydrochloric acid to 1 part of nitric acid.

Very carefully poor some mL in a larger volume of cold water, and stir with cooling in between more additions. (Corrosive and toxic to eyes, skin, lungs)
