In order to understand what a forth level consumer is, once must understand what a consumer is. This is in reference to the food chain or web. The food chain or web is a closely linked community of animal and plant species. A forth level consumer in the food chain would be a fairly high end predator as there would be 3 species under it. For example, a grasshopper would be a first level consumer feeding on grass. A second level consumer would be a preying mantes which ate the grasshopper. A third level consumer would be the wild turkey who ate the preying mantas. A forth level consumer would be the human who shot the turkey and then ate it.
