The correct answer is to locate the owner's manual of the particular saw in question (or call the company) and find out what is recommended. Most chainsaws recommend a 50:1 ratio but some older ones require 40:1. Husqvarna and Stihl also recommend using 89 octane gas (which is usually the middle grade).
