biotechnology and genetic engineering is the study and improvment of the body through technology and gentic modification. biotechnology is the science of improvment of the bodies diffrent functions with technology, say you lost a limb, biotechnology created the artificial limb and some of the more complex and exspenive equipment for hospitals and for people with certain disabillities. genetic engineering is a hot topic because most of the time its illegal, it involves the changing, replicating, or modifying of either animal or human DNA (Deoxyribonucleic acid) human genetic engineering is outlawed in most countries. ---------------------------------------------------- Note that biotechnology and genetic engineering are almost always referred to in the context of laboratory animals (mice, etc.) and microorganisms (yeast, bacteria), and it's quite legal to change the genetic material of these organisms for the purpose of scientific study.

Where certain factories get their product to be better. (example: corn). They get the genetics of the item and find the DNA strand that contains the information they want to change. (They want to make bigger corn, so they take out the small corn gene and replace it with a big corn gene.) Then they replace it with the new gene. Then they wait for the seed to grow.

Genetic engineering can be good in ways like medicine. A person with a family disese of Diabetes can take that gene out and replace it with a normal non-diabetes gene. But genetic engenerring is not the way God intended things to be, so some people have speculations about it. And in many cases companies go crazy with it. Many large chicken corperations have GM (genetically modified) their chickens to have big breasts for chicken meat. The chicken are starting to loose their legs because their weigh on their front side is to much for them to handle. Yet the company continues to GM them. In my opinion just by organic or NO GMI PRODUCTS
