standard tuning
Tuning is really a choice. If you want to get the best sound out of your guitar, then I highly suggest tuning it.
A guitar is a far more complex structure than a tuning fork, and has more harmonics. The whole design of a tuning fork is intended to give as simple and pure a sound as possible, since that is the easiest type of sound to use when you are trying to tune an instrument. You wouldn't want harmonics in a tuning fork.
Lower.
rhythm guitar is E flat or B flat depending on what you like more as B flat you just play the same song but a string down. That I figured out by ear. Not sure about the lead guitar but I can imagine B flat since its Mick Thompson. For that tuning get the thickest strings you can otherwise it will sound like s***.
Guitars can be tuned quickly and easily by using an online tool such as the Tune-O-Matic. Guitars can also be tuned by buying a guitar tuning machine that listens to the sound of the guitar and tells the user if it is in tune or not.

you can tighten or loosen your strings, causing the string make higher or lower sound. (Check guitar tuning)
i would not recommend altering your guitar in any way, because that could mess up the tuning and sound of your guitar
Lower.
Try to use drop c tuning
There are two knobs on a guitar. One is the tone knob, which is used when tuning the guitar right pitch and sound you want out of the guitar. The other is for your volume, which is obviously used to toggle between the loudness or quietness of the guitar.
Each brand guitar makes a different sound, one guitar may be better than another,it could be the pickups,or the tuning. It could be anything.
Drop d is a tuning where instead of tuning your top string of your guitar off of 5 then you tune it off of 7 so that it gets a deeper more heavy sound
The factors of the sound of a guitar string are tuning the string (changes the tension; the tighter the higher) and pressing down on the fret (changes amount of string that vibrates; the shorter the higher)

Either by sound (buy a tuning harmonica) or by electronic (buy a guitar tuner) The best and most accurate way is to buy a tuner. You can either put it up to your guitar and let it go on sound or plug it into any electric based guitar to get 100% quality tune. I have an effects peddle and there is a tuner feature included in that. So I killed 2 birds with 1 stone. I agree that electronic is best. The tuning harmonicas are funny more than effective.
