they live in central and western africa =)

To be more specific, they live in rainforest and woodland across a belt from West Africa (Ivory Coast and around there) through to western Tanzania (in East Africa), generally north of the equator (and always north of the Congo River) except in the far eastern portion of their range. While they always live where there are trees and fruit and leaves to eat, in some places they live in drier, more open environments whereas others are much wetter and closed canopy environments. Which they live in determines their social organization and behavior. Then there are bonobos, which live only in the Democratic Republic of the Congo and live in very wet, closed canopy rainforests where the pattern of food availability may make it easier for them to live in bigger groups even at times when their preferred fruits are less abundant.

A Chimpanzee doesn't have a house, but they do have a territory that they roam. Chimp communities break up into satellite families to look for food. At night, they weave the supple branches of trees into a nest on which they sleep. These could be considered temporary houses if you are so inclined to think of them that way. They do not have much in the way of a material culture as they do not live in settled societies. Their Bonobo cousins live an almost egalitarian society, which is a stepping stone to a settled one, but they haven't made the step yet (and they probably won't ever). Therefore, Chimps will never have a collection of things that they keep with them in one centralized area like a home.
