That depends. You actually use water to clean a Trumpet. However, if it's left in water, or has water spots on it for extended periods of time, they can cause corrosion. Make sure to dry your trumpet whenever it gets wet, and empty your "spit" valves after playing.
Sure, but I wouldn't recommend it. Although the instrument is designed to have oral fluids blown through its tubes, it is made of brass and is subject to rust and decay. I wonder why you would want to submerge a musical instrument in water unless you were intentionally attempting to damage it.
it should not be a problem as long as you do not use it constantly, and DO NOT PUT IT ON YOUR VALVES. this could cause the valves to accumulate more "muck." this is my name for the hardened saliva that sometimes gets on your valves, turning the valve holes greenish or black. also, if you clean your trumpet regularly you should not have to put WD-40 on your trumpet
Yes one can I will clean my trumpet ever 6 months in a quick bath and then dry it out and re oil it.
If you were playing in rain or something its fine just always dry it off. never let i soak for too long though
If you have tried other methods, such as snakes, then you can soak the trumpet for a short time. You just have to be very careful to completely dry it quickly after. It will need to be re-oiled. If all else fails, it may just need to go in the shop. Sometimes a small dent or bend can cause pretty big problems.
