Answer Your pulse rate depends on several things. If you are a smoker it will be higher. If you eat a lot of salt it will be high no matter your age. Excercise is a good way to keep your pulse rate low. My wife and I both smoke, we don't eat salt and fatty foods. She walks very fast in comparision to me. Her pulse rate is a low 66 to 68 and her high is 110 to 120 which is very good. These figures are based upon Canadian standards and I don't know if American Standards are the same but they should be. Why not contact the American Heart Institute they will advise you where you should be and it's free too. Good luck
