Barbara Millicent Roberts loved to play with her dolls like every other little girl but instead of the regular baby doll like all the other little children were playing with. Barbara and her friends would play with a more grown up figure. The parents always believed it was good to imagine what the future may hold. When on a trip in Europe they found a lilli doll that was very inspiring for the soon to be barbie doll. Elliot and Ruth the parents created a barbie and then proposed the idea to mattel.

When Ruth presented the doll it was an absolute no from all the men at the table. After getting professionals to make clothes for the doll and lots of hard work the doll was allowed to go to the American toy fair of 1959. While most adults didn't approve, the little girls were ALL over the design.

In Barbie's first year she was very popular selling for 3 dollars. One of her 3 dollar dolls were recently sold for $17,000. March 9th has recently passed making Barbie 50 years old.

People had problems with barbie having a tattoo that says ken because it might provoke children to think that is ok. Some people were offended when the black barbie had white features and some were offended by the phrase "oreo" Some kids had the thought that they should be skinny as barbie making some anorexic. Also in one book by barbie it said to be skinny don't eat. Also Bratz were a BIG threat! So they were sued for 500 million dollars!

Ken is Barbie's most well known friend that Barbie has been romantically linked to for a very long time. Midge is a more flawful figure than Barbie's perfect self.

Ken and Barbie broke up after 43 years thanks to the new blaine doll coming out.
