The "Goldmark" was introduced in 1871, in 1914 it became known as the "PapierMark"

The "Rentenmark" replaced this in 1923, a year later it was replaced again by the "Reichsmark"

After World War 2 (1948) the "Deutsche Mark" was introduced by the Allied Forces in West Germany.

At the same time the Soviets issued the "Ostmark" in East Germany.

The "Ostmark was later renamed the "Mark der DDR"

In 1990 when the "Reunification" took place the "Deutsche Mark" became the sole currency for the Federal Republic of Germany.

On the 28th of February 2002, this gave way to the European currency the "Euro" "€".
