That humans are part of the natural world and evolved at the same time as other animals. We are primates, relatively naked apes. Our closest cousins are chimpanzees/ bonobos and we share a common ancestor with them about 6 million years ago. Going further back in time we, (and chimpanzees), share an ancestor with gorillas and we all share an ancestor with the orang-utan about 14 million years ago.
