It's the study of how fluids move around. For example when a fluid is flowing through a pipe, is it turbulent, how fast is it moving. It can be applied to lots of things, like how the air flows over a planes wing, how much force is acting on a dam.

∙ 11y agoHydrology is very important in Civil Engineering because water affects all aspects of construction . From the cohesion of soluable aggregate interaction to the effects of direct flooding in and around all areas of construction , we must study and use all the facts present about how water will find it's way into all aspects of the finished product and or will effect the unwanted outcome of many construction projects . We must master the flow of water by using proven hydraulic procedures ie : water will follow the easiest path of resistance and will also seek it's own level thus , if we are to control flooding in all areas of our lives , we will remember that too much water will drown anyone that tires of dogpaddleing for days at a time ! If i have not Baffled you with my brilliance then i hope that i have buffalode you with my Bullcorn !

∙ 12y agoIdeal fluids, and ideal currents are extremly useful for the fact that they prove to be accurate (enough). To numeric calculate real fluids is possible with High-performance computing, but tends to be impossible to illustrate analytic.
