Commemorating Independence Day reminds us of the courage and struggle of the men and women who paved the way for the birth of our nation. Our ancestors add great sacrifices to witness that day in 1898, when the Philippine flag was raised and the national anthem was played to mark the proclamation of our nation's independence.
One hundred and fourteen years after, we are called to remain united and steadfast to the ideals of freedom and democracy. This year's theme, Kalayaan: Pananagutan ng Bayan para sa Tuwid na Daan, prompts us to bear in mind that Every Filipino, wherever he or she may be, has a role to play in the nation's development. Our hard-earned independence comes with responsibility to build a prosperous nation founded on truth, justice and equity.
The Importance of Independence day to Filipinos...
The importance of Independence Day to Filipinos is a like the sun that gives us life and nourished us. Our forefathers had suffered mutilation, gruesome death punishments, the women had been raped and maltreated. As a Survivor of that war and colonial rule, our noble heroes were seeking to end the abusive rule of Spain. Doctor Jose Rizal is one of the most memorable heroes we have, his hope to free us all from cruelty and his love for our country cannot be bartered by any precious gems in whole world.
Their fight- is our fight! Their revenge is our victory! But to honor their undying effort and love for our country has been fading. We tend not to stop when the Philippine national anthem is being played and sung. Most of us have never remembered the sacrifices they had given to free us all, to achieve victory over Spain. And to take a bite of what we have today- the freedom to speak, freedom to love, freedom to do things without anything to fear. We owe them our victorious freedom today.
" Ang hindi mag mahal sa sariling bayan, ay mas mabaho pa sa malansang isda."
The powerful slogan we have, had lost its power- on empowering us and putting the love and to honor our heroes from the freedom we are having right now due to their sacrifices. The spirit of being a Filipino has faded. We embarked beyond, and we forgot to look back on how hard on their part to die, but because of their love for our nation- we are free from slavery today.
