In every violations we did, there is a punishment. But in every good things we did, we receive nothing from the law except that we are entitled as 'Innocent'. The importance of law in our society, is that it makes the situation be fair to both parties. And let them know what they had done. Let them realize they're wrong or right. And after that, give them the second chance they deserve. But it's not easy. Law may not be fair when not studied carefully and logically by the people who are involved.

The role of law in the society is to mainly maintain order and resolve conflicts. This is a common reference point for everyone and is used as the yardstick in any matter.
