He is the cousin of Macduff. He is a messenger who delievers good and bad news. Ross is seen by some people to be a witch, this is because he praises Macbeth then shortly after he says " the thane of cawdor began a dismal conflict" which ironically Macbeth becomes thane of cawdor and has dismal conflict with Macduff which he gets his head cut off.

Ross is one of the main characters in the story.

you don't really know whose side he is on because he kept switching throughout the play. but he kills a few vital characters and that is why he is important.

Ross spends his time in the play bringing messages to people, starting with his message to Duncan that Sweyno has been defeated in Fife while Macbeth was dealing with Macdonweald in the north. He is of course the messenger that tells Macbeth that he is now Thane of Cawdor. He is also the messenger that tells Macduff that his family has been killed.
