The greatest contribution of Roman Architecture is the system of Arches. They also contributed in the construction system and design of particular buildings that we still use today. Examples of this are the theatre, aqueducts, and colosseum (modern day sports stadiums).

∙ 14y agoThe Pentagon Roman uses column and arches for their style of building. Take the White House for an example. The Roman also have dome for their style of building and so does the White House. Anything that has columns,arches, or dome usually got the idea from the Roman.

∙ 11y agoThe Roman Republic was a society that made a habit of adopting the good ideas of other societies, namely those integrated into the Empire. Learning from the Greeks, the Romans used the three Greek columnar orders (stylized columns of a specific shape and proportion) and modified them to create two additional orders for a total of five.
By also integrating the use of the arch to create vaults, arcades, cross-vaulting, and domes they managed to create large, interior spaces as well as monumental exteriors.
The influence has been seen throughout history with the Neo-Classical movement of the mid-18th to 19th centuries. Later, the visual purity of the classical period was used to create the elements of beauty seen of the structures designed during the Beaux-Arts period of the mid 19th to early 20th centuries.
Rome, and its architectural legacy can still be seen in buildings that wish to exude the power and monumentality of form while still exhibiting the proportional grace as intended by the ancients.
