'Half spider and half cricket' sounds like a praying mantis. The mantis eats other insects and poses no threat to humans, so be glad they are around.

It sounds like you are asking about a house centipede. I have them in my home and they are harmless. A little scary when they run over your bare feet in the middle of the night, but entirely harmless.
