i believe grapefruit contains chemicals that can act as mild maoi's meaning your body wont be able to remove THC from itself as quickly as without grapefruit. so it should in theory be stronger and longer lasting. but remember it will be a lot easier to overdose( not that that you can overdose on weed, but i don't know if u plan on taking any other drugs) so be careful and lower the dosage
Grapefruit juice is a potent inhibitor of liver metabolism, specifically CYP3A4.
THC is metabolized mainly by CYP2C9, CYP2C19, and CYP3A4. So GJ inhibits a subset of the cytochrome P450 enzymes that metabolize THC, prolonging the effects.
NONE. You have probably been misled by someone in the relation of acidic drinks removing THC from your system. Whereas grapefruit juice and cranberry juice may be aces on a UTI , they will do nothing in regards to THC levels in your body. Now grapefruit juice DOES, however have an effect on some prescription medications , but that's not your question =)
Actually, a interaction can exist in the metabolism of the THC in the marijuana and the grapefruit juice. A group of metabolism enzymes called CYP450s are responsible for metabolizing xenobiotics. The specific type in metabolizing THC are CYP3A4, CYP2C9, and CYP2C19. A chemical constituent in grapefruit juice called Naringin inhibits the CYP3A4 as quickly as 4 hours of drinking the grapefruit juice. The inhibition of the CYP3A4 may increase serum levels of THC or extend the duration of the THC effects (its can also extend the side effects of paranoia as well). This all depends and the how personally activity of your CYP2C9s and CYP2C19s because of their genetic basis. This effect can be even greater when THC is ingested because of the primary location of the CYP3A4s in the GI tract and liver. There are no negative interactions that I no of besides possibly longer lasting paranoia or rapid heart beat do to the initial THC effect.
No it won't. Really -- nothing will except time. Sorry.------- TRY NIACIN.... I heard that it's supposed to flush your system.
