Jews call it a Kippah (in Hebrew) or a Yarmulka (in Yiddish). It is a head covering worn by Jews during prayer and study. Orthodox men wear them all the time. It is a custom with the force of a law, and although the actual origin is vague, it has come to represent a reminder of G-d's presence.

A kippah, yarmulke or kappel.
I use a skull cap and I love it, but hockey masks cover the ears and cover more of your neck. If your looking for style use the skull cap (thats what I like) but if your looking for comfort and protection use the hockey style mask. And im not saying the skull caps are not safe, im saying that hockey style masks lessen the chance of injury. i have never used a skull cap and mask before so i wont know, but is the only extra chance of injury with a skull cap and mask the fact that its covering less or does it absorb less impact too. i have also heard that it is easier to block with a skull cap and mask is that true?
The skull cap worn by a pope, cardinal or bishop is called a zucchetto.
