Responsibility is more important than duty.

the duties are to over see the financial statements, keep records of Accounts Payable and receivable, make sure the filing systems are up to date and keep an eye on everything to make sure things are running smoothly.

I am a business support administrator and the role has a lot of different duties depending on the company you work for. I work in 3 different departments (health & safety, building services and operations) within the my company. Most likely you will have numerous duties and will be required to multi task and prioritise. It is a very busy role.

What duties an administrator has, depends a lot on what he/she is the administrator of. One could be a financial administrator, a computer administrator, a forum administrator, a maintenance administrator and more. Pretty much any work place could have an administrating position. All one can really say as a general rule, is what lies in the definition of the word "administrate". Which means to supervise, or look over something. Said simple, an administrator is like the referee at a football game, or the superintendent at a school. He/she watches over the workplace and makes sure everything goes smoothly.
