They help with involuntary actions in the body by contracting. to move bones
Contracts and relaxes to control blood flow through the body, it is not as strong as cardiac muscles or skeletal muscles
It is an involuntary muscle and used in internal organs rather than movement of the outside of the body. Smooth muscles are found in places such as the eye, urinary tract, genitalia, skin ("goose bumps"), and digestive tract.

Function of smooth muscles depends on the tissues where they are present....

In blood vessels, when the smooth muscles contract, they constrict the lumen of the blood vessels ( arteries ) thus increasing the blood pressure, and when they relax, the lumen increases in diameter and thus brings down the blood pressure..

In urinary bladder, when the smooth muscles contract, result in micturition ( passage of urine )... the group of smooth muscles in the urinary bladder are called as Detrusor muscle...

They are involuntary muscles that line the walls of organs, such as the stomach and intestines. These ones aid in the digestion of food by churning it up and moving it along the digestive track. Other smooth muscles line the walls of the arteries, controling blood pressure by adjusting the diameter of the blood vessels.
