A hypothesis is a proposed scientific explanation for a set of observations. Scientists generate hypotheses using prior knowledge; logical inference; and informed, creative imagination. Scientific hypotheses must be proposed in a way that enables them to be tested. Some hypotheses are tested by performing controlled experiments. Other hypotheses are tested by gathering more data.

The key would have to be to know what each one of the chemicals does and how other chemicals effect them. If you don't know what the chemicals do, then it's gonna be very hard to understand what will happen when they mix them.

What is the Difference between hypothesis and proposition?

A proposition is a logically sound assertion that makes a connection/s between concepts. Propositions cannot be tested for validity; a hypothesis is a logical assertion, that can, but has not yet been tested. Propositions are the framework upon which hypothesis are made. Propositions also, because of their characteristic of not being testable, do not have to be supported by empirical evidence. Hypothesis on the other hand, do.

Is statistic a measure that describes a population characteristic?
