It is hilly and home to forests and open grassland (or farms). There are numerous lakes, some formed by glacial moraines. In the wintertime, there is often snow and the lakes are covered in ice.
Wisconsin has Lake Michigan on the eastern border and Lake Superior on some of the Northern border. The southwestern corner has high bluffs along the Mississippi River. This is the only part of the state that was not glaciated and is called the Driftless Area. Wisconsin has a few mountains but they are not very high. Much of the state is good farmland.
