The largest unit of distance that I'm aware of is the gigaparsec (Gpc) or 1 billion parsecs. Astronomers use a method called parallax to measure the distance to some stars, and an object with a parallax of one second is said to be 1 parsec away. This distance is 3.09x1016 meters, so a gigaparsec is 3.09x1025 meters.

The observable universe is thought to have a diameter of about 28 gigaparsecs, so there would be little use for any larger measurements.

The largest unit would be a yottaparsec which is much bigger than a gigaparsec.

it could be mm (millimetres), cm (centimetres), m (metres), km (kilometres), miles, ft(feet), yd (yards), ... there are lots you could use, you should use which ever makes the most sense (e.g. you wouldn't use mm to measure the dimensions of a building, you would use metres)

Like the idea but, sadly, that is not going to work. The base unit for measuring length is a metre. You could use larger or smaller multiples of a metre depending on the distance that you wanted to measure.
