The legal age to bartend is the same to drink. 21. This Applies only to the City of Chicago. State Law for bartending is 18 with Chicago being the exception of 21.
However, local and county laws may override the 18 state law if they are stricter....check with local authorities beforehand.
Depends on the place of employment... The county itself is 18 but the employer has the right to make it 21. State and local laws can change. In Illinois and its is 18 for closed alcohol -such as bottles and 21 for open draft and shots, (most places don't want to deal with this and make it 21 for anyone-which is legal as long as they have host and cook or other position where the age requirement is not in place. but Chicago is 21 for any alcohol sale. Michigan it is just 18 for any. I check with the local mayor office for local laws.
