Kakapo are ready to breed for the first time between 6 and 11 years old. The female lays between one and four eggs which take about 30 days to hatch. The chicks are ready to leave the nest by ten to twelve weeks, but often the mother will feed them until they are six months old. Kakapo are believed to live up to 95 years.
