Right now, one woman out of every 8 is statistically likely to be diagnosed with breast cancer, and is the most common cancer for women today.

The gotod news is that breast cancer is receiving a lot of research and funding, and splendid improvements in treatment and prognosis have developed over the last 10 or 20 years. Today, with proper treatment and early detection, the chance of mortality is roughly 15%, and dropping.

While the incidence of breast cancer seems to be rising, what I think is really happening is that we're diagnosing it a lot more effectively than we did even 10 years ago.

That depends largely on the stage at which she is diagnosed to have it. If the diagnosis is made early, and she is treated accordingly, chances are high. If it is diagnosed late when the cancer has already spread to other parts of the body, chances become slim.

Breast cancer recurrence occurs in the breast tissue obviously. But it isn't likely to happen after a mastectomy due to there really not being any tissue left for it to grow on.
