The cure for cirrhosis is a liver transplant. If that is the treatment which you are offered/choose to take, your life expectancy should not be diminished. Life expectancy with cirrhosis is measured in adults with something called the "MELD" score (model for end stage liver disease) - it is an algebraic formula, based on results such as blood tests etc... you can work out your own life expectancy using the formula, should you wish to know. See related link for the MELD calculator.
It all depends how it has progressed and was ignored. The good news is, if caught early and you follow your doctor's instructions to the letter (no cheating) you can live many years with this condition. However, you will have to constantly take medications for it. This is not to be fooled around with, so seeing your doctor on a regular basis and following his strict orders is imparitive. It is also important not to even go near alcohol and to lower your acidic food intake. Alcohol alone is not always the cause for cirrhosis, but it will irritate it if you do not abuse alcohol. Please keep seeing your doctor (don't put it off) and the more he/she knows about you the more they can help you to lead a long and productive life. Good luck! Marcy
A person with cirrhosis of the liver can live for many years until they receive a transplant. The chances of survival prior to a transplant depend on the person's ability to get treatment. If a person with cirrhosis does not get a transplant, they will die.
Cirrhosis of the liver involves irreversible damage. The only treatment is abstaining from alcohol, and supporting liver function by not stressing it in other ways. It is possible to live for long periods with liver damage, provided that it is not too far advanced.
You cant live very long without treatment. But maybe with treatment you could live for a bit longer.
Life expectancy with cirrhosis is estimated with MELD scoring - Modelling of End-stage Liver Disease. It is an algorithm, based on blood test results and some other factors which is used to estimate life expectancy. Please see related link for MELD calculator.
maximum 4 weeks,.
No cirrhosis is not a reversible condition. It is a serious and progressive liver disease caused by long-term damage to the liver. The damage caused by cirrhosis cannot be reversed but it can be treated and managed. Treatment generally focuses on:Slowing the progression of the diseaseManaging and relieving symptomsTreating complicationsPreventing further damage to the liverTreatment options vary depending on the cause and stage of the disease but typically involve lifestyle changes medications and/or surgery. It is important to seek medical attention as soon as possible if you have symptoms of cirrhosis as early diagnosis and treatment can help slow the progression of the disease.
Cirrhosis is a scarred liver, normally caused by alcoholism, long-time liver disease. Since the liver is a very important organ, when it fails, you don't have much longer to live unless you get a transplant.
I do not know How long they live
Ihave bilary cirrhosis and use ursodoil 3 times a day ? how long do i have to live? i now iam gona go sometime because i lost my mom and my sister to it it is in the gene and so dose my daughter?
The MELD scoring system is an algebraic formula for assessing how long a person with cirrhosis has to live (hence it's useful in assessing who should be priority on the liver transplant waiting list). It takes into account blood test results, perceived quality of life and other factors. The pediatric system is the "PELD" scoring system, which works in a similar way.
It is hard to say how long a dog would have, but a dog with radiation treatment is alive a year longer than without treatment.
3-8 months
