The average life span of a rat is 2 years to 5 years. The absolute minimum is 1 year and some people say rats live from 1 to 1.5 years old, but that isn't true. They live up to 5 years depending on how well you take care of them and if they were born with a disease or got one.
Rat Owner/ Rat Breeder
Claire- Claire was a former rat of mine. She was great. She learned many tricks, some of them are: jumping from platform to platform, tight-roping, coming to her name, kiss, and of course she was litter trained. Claire lived to be 5 years old. She was not spayed or neutered (Don't know which one id for girls). She lived that long because she was taken care of really well. So that's another way to expand rat's life.
