It should be kept in mind that, while literacy among indigenous Australians (commonly known as Aborigines and Torres Strait Islanders) is still only at 20%, this is being slowly addressed. More younger indigenous Australians are staying on to complete their high school education. In fact, the rate of Indigenous university graduates into full time employment in 2003 was, at 83.7%, higher than the non-indigenous rate of 81%.
