> Actually, Kreg Slack, and Bruce Artus of Colorado made a 3120 Yard shot on a prairie dog. That is a confirmed World Record.
My brother and I have been trying to answer that question for a while now with my Marlin 30AS in 30-30. Based on my internet research I don't think there is an official record but once in a while around the gun range you'll hear about incredible shots that hint at the possibilities. My brother and I have been trying to push the range as far as possible, our goal is to put 3 rounds on a silhouette target at 550 yds. So far the best we've gotten is 2 out of 5 rounds at 400 yds and that was a little luck. A 150 gr Hornady Levereveloution bullet will reach 500+ yds but the problem is the bullet drop which at that range is nearly 20 FEET! And I don't know of a scope setup that you can use on a Marlin lever gun that will give you that kind of compensation. If and when we do hit 500+ yds with the 30-30 you'll see the video on YouTube but I'm not posting anything until I have an unquestionable video I can post to prove it. My brother who is also my spotter is in Afghanistan for a while so I'll have to wait until he gets back. SEMPER FI!
You will have to me more specific. Do you mean any rifle that fires a 30 caliber projectile or 30/06 or 308?
Depends on the case and the size of the powder charge. There are many .30 caliber cartridges and the ranges will be different for each one.
30
The Dragunov (note corrected spelling) sniper rifle is in caliber 7.62x54mmR. This is the same caliber at the Moisin-Nagant 91/30 rifle.
No You could build a rifle in .306" or any other caliber but you are likely referring to 30.06. A 30.06 rifle is referred to as "30 Caliber" but to be accurate it is nominally .308"
Dr. King was shot with a Remington Model 760 pump action rifle chambered in caliber .30-06. Ray originally purchased the same model in .243 winchester, but traded it for the more powerful .30-06, telling the salesman that he needed a "more powerful rifle."
No. The bullet is too big. A 30-30 is a .30 caliber bullet. a .38 bullet is .357 caliber

Winchester 94 in 30-30 caliber.
