As of December 12, 2012:
The last general pay adjustment for state employees was Oct. 1, 2006. However, State employees received a one time $1,000 bonus in 2007, but it did not affect their base salary in coming years and did not count toward retirement benefit. In addition, employees have recently had to contribute 3% of their salary to the state retirement fund (court challenge underway).
State of Florida employees have been treated poorly considering that in 2005 Florida's pay scale for employees was among the lowest in all the states, and the number of employees per 1,000 state residents was very low compared to that in the vast majority of states. With personnel cuts and shrinking salaries apparent, the situation has gotten worse.
