Hebrews 4:12 For the word of God is living and active. Sharper than any two edged sword, it penetrates even to dividing soul and spirit, joints and marrow; it judges the thoughts and attitudes of the heart.

There are many people in this world that have hardened hearts and refuse to hear the Word of God. They refuse to listen and fight it at every turn. However I can tell you from experience that no matter how hardened someones heart is, the word of God can penetrate into their heart and soul and change them. It can judge your thoughts and actions and cause you to see that your ways are wrong. The first step in changing is seeing where your mistakes are. The Word of God can do that. Then the word can get into your heart and show you the love that God has for you. That sword pierced my heart and I am now a believer in Jesus Christ because of it.

The writer of Hebrews is writing to Hebrew Christians. Verses 18 through 21 tells the story of Israel and their experience at Mt. Sinai when God gave the law to the nation through Moses. There was much fear and trembling at that time because of the mighty God. Verses 22 through 24 is a different story about these present day Hebrews who have come to God for salvation. The Mt Zion mentioned here is not the earthly Mt. in Jerusalem, but the one in God's abode in heaven. They have come to God through Jesus Christ and to an innumerable company of angels, to the general assembly and church of Jesus Christ the firstborn (the head of the church, Christianity) and they are registered or written in the book of life. Jesus' blood is better that that of Abel's offering which was only a temporary covering for sin whereas Jesus' blood covers sin for all time for anyone who accepts Him as Savior. Man is flesh and blood. The "physical" is what we know, naturally, and are led and guided by it. Material things. Yet, The Bible reveals that there is a "spirit" within each of us - [Ps.31:5; Zech.12:1; Eph.4:23; James 4:5]. So, it's the understanding of the "spiritual" aspect of life that must be revealed to us. Spirit, that our five physical senses cannot see or otherwise perceive. This is what the LIVING"Word of God" does... and IS. It's God's "Divine Revelation" to His special creation, MAN, created in His image.
