The meninges (from the Greek meninx, meaning "membrane") cover and protect the brain and spinal cord. The meninges have three layers: 1) the dura mater, 2) the arachnoid, and 3) the pia mater. The dura mater is the outermost layer covering the central nervous system. The arachnoid (from the Greek arachne, meaning "spider") is a web-like network of collagen and elastic fibers. The innermost layer of the meninges is the pia mater. The pia mater is firmly attached to the neural tissue of the spinal cord and brain. Cerebrospinal fluid fills the space between the pia matter and the arachnoid membrane. Most of the blood vessels that supply blood to the central nervous system are in the pia mater.
The outermost layer of the brain membrane (meninges) is the dura mater, "tough mother". The middle layer of meninges is the arachnoid (spider) mater which helps stabilize the brain inside the skull. Finally the pia mater overlies the brain directly.
Intrathecal means within a sheath.

The thin like membrane that covers the brain is "Dura Matter", and the thin like protection surrounding the spinal cord is a "mylein Sheath".
The source of the disease was Hemophilus influenzae, a bacteria that causes inflammation of the meninges, the membranes surrounding the brain and spinal cord.

Inflammation of the spinal marrow or its membranes.
Protrusion of spinal cord membranes through defect in the spinal column.
Well, the spinal cord is the spinal cord, but when you are talking about it with the brain, they make up the central nervous system. There are also different spinal tracts and nerves depending on where they originate/end (ie spinocerebellar, corticospinal etc), so those can be referred to independently. In addition, there are meninges of the spinal cord, which are the connective membranes that enclose the spinal cord (which include the dura mater, the arachnoid mater, and pia mater and the spaces in between). So depending on which part you are talking about, they can be named individually, but the spinal cord is called the spinal cord as a whole. It's "Myel-"
The spinal cord needs omega 3 fatty acids for its myelin sheath; fish is a good source.

Myeloneuritis is inflammation of the spinal cord and nerves. Meningitis is inflammation of the membranes covering the brain and spinal cord.
spinal MENINGITIS is a bacterial disease that attacks the spinal cord. it causes inflammation of the membranes enclosing the spinal cord. it is especially fatal in infants and young children.
