A lot of books say 3 seconds, but the truth is...
A goldfish's memory is 11 months long. That is the human equivalent to remembering something for over 40 years. Also, goldfish have been trained to swim through mazes.Look Up comet the gold fish
Proves it is smart
In my experience fish can remember things for several years. A fish will soon learn to recognise the person who feeds it. They will also learn to recognise the different containers that are used for the different foods and will also learn to respond and react to different sounds. During a recently televised controlled experiment using mazes, goldfish were found to be able to learn a way out of the maze and then be able to remember the route through the maze several days later.
Gold fish do not have second long memory spans. They are actually pretty average spans. Goldfish CAN be taught tricks, can learn colours and other strange things. They also live in schools so have to remember who they live with!
A betta fish has an excellent memory span! They can remember for up to 5 months. One of the things I love about Bettas is how they'll remember their owner's face. My bettas flare at anyone that isn't me and I think it's hilarious. The whole thing about how fish have a memory span of 3-8 seconds is a myth that has already been debunked. There was a study where they taught some goldfish some tricks (yes they can learn tricks and so can bettas!), then they didn't do any of the tricks for months. They come back 5 months later and the fish still remember! I think it's really cool. There are other studies than just this one and there was even a Mythbuster's episode about it!
The answer is up to three months. This has been scientifically tested and verified. The '3 seconds' myth is not true.
Betta fish have a memory of approx. 2-3 seconds, depending on their age. It is an unfortunate fact of their lives, but sadly it is true.
the average memory span of a goldfish is about 3 seconds. The reason why goldfish spin around in circles is because everything is new to them!
I know as a fact (from a book) that a goldfish only has a three-second memory. So I never expect my goldfish to recognize me as their owner! =)
Goldfish actually have a memory span of at least three months. They can remember individual humans, shapes and colors, and when their dinnertime is, among other things.
All Goldfish make great pets provided you give them good water and food. Remember the basic rule of '1 inch of fish needs 1 gallon of water' then remember that your goldfish will grow to at least 12 inches long given good conditions.
going on experience, goldfish don't have memories but do have instincts. my goldfish knows that the yellow pot means food, yet it doesn not remember any other things that happen, it always freaks out when anything goes into the water, even if it is a feeder. so goldfish do not have memories, they have instincts.
Not by itself, no. Though if you're talking about a goldfish or other being with a short memory span then it may be ironic!
Goldfish do not have vocal chords and as such, this is not something that they can learn
The long strand that is coming from your goldfish is poop.
Not happily or healthily. Those goldfish need at least 30 gallons of space to live happily and have a long life. If you do successfully breed your fish, remember to remove the babies ASAP. Goldfish like to eat their babies.
It is important to remember to put things in a goldfish tank, even goldfish get bored. Some of my suggestions for tank decor are artificial plants and a "hidey hole" for your goldfish.
If it is a small goldfish, it will physically fit in something that small. But, it will not live very long in it. If you wish to keep goldfish alive, you need at least ten gallons of water for each goldfish along with a good filter and a heater to keep the water temperature stable. With proper care goldfish can easily live 15+ years.
This means that you cant remember things. As goldfish can not retain anything fo more then 3 seconds
Well, deepens on what you are trying to remember. If you where trying to remember something for school you can post what you want to remember places you look alot.
well, not long. i had a goldfish and it died in like 8 hours.
i don't think that it is to long
