magnesium hydroxide = Mg(OH)2 , the atomic relatif mass (Ar) of magnesium is 24, O is 16, H is 1, so the molecule relatif mass of magnesium hydroxide is 24 + (16+1)*2 = 58, so the percentage of magnesium is (24/58)*100% = 41.38%

Magnesium sulphate heptahydrate: MgSO4.7H2O

Mg: 1* 24.31 = 24.31

S : 1 * 32.06 = 32.06

O :11 * 16.00=176.00

H :14 * 1.008 = 14.112

================== +

molar mass = 246.48 g/mol

MgSO4 x 7H2O

you need the mass of the water only so you are looking at the 7H2O

you have 14m H (7x2)

you have 7 m O (7x1)

calculate using Atomic Mass of H is 1.008 g

atomic mass of O is 16.00 g

1.008(14)+16(7)=126.112

the mass of the water is 126.112 g
