The second pig took longer to build a house out of sticks but still had time to play. The third pig used all his time to build a house out of bricks. The brick house was the only house the wolf could not blow down.

The 1989 book "The True Story of The Three Little Pigs" is by Jon Scieszka and Lane Smith. In this version, told from the perspective of the peaceful Alexander T. Wolf, the wolf is merely asking to borrow some sugar to make his grandmother a birthday cake. He accidentally sneezes down the house of two pigs, and only eats them because they have already died. He is arrested and incarcerated after the third pig alerts the authorities, the sneezing having done no damage to the brick house.
