Yes, the Ritz-Carlton would have the costliest "regular" rooms, but the Plaza has suites that run $15,000 a night and the Four Seasons Presidential Suite will run it's guest $20,000 for an evening of indulgence.

really depends what your looking for if your looking for luxury and price isn't an issue there's loads the Barbizon, the Dylan , NH grand. If its just a base your looking for to sleep at night after a hard days walking, sightseeing and coffee shops well there's hem Amsterdam city west one of the nicest neighbourhoods in the city. very easy and cheap to get into the centre there's a metro, bus and tram stop all only 2 Min's walk away. you can reach the city within 10 Min's by tram and bus and metro. This is a good hotel specially if you pay 10 euros a night more and get upgraded to room 403 it is the only room to have its own balcony. And it also has a jacuzzi for after a hard days walking and smoking. If its more central your looking for well there's loads of little family run hotels and hostels the hotel de laterne is good nothing special no thrills but a good base for a 3 days trip the old nickel or the vijaya the last 3 you can smoke in the rooms there isn't many hotels that allow this. As i said if its just a base to sleep at night any of the last 3 are all great you read review about people complaining the TV didn't work the toilet is too small and really who goes to Amsterdam to watch TV and as for the toilet see as long as you can get a wash and do the toilet who cares how big it it is. If going with a partner id recommend the hem and pay for the upgrade all you do is email them you'll find there site in the goggle bar by typing hem hotel Amsterdam. And Tell them your booking for your birthday or honeymoon or something special and you might even get it for nothing like we did. Good luck. If its with a group of Friends well any of the other 3 are totally fine. There's a site called easytobook Ive booked with them on 4 different occasions now and never had a problem they have guest review on all there hotels. so you get to read what the users think and not just take the hotels word for it. Also tripadvisor has Amsterdam hotel review and guest pictures so you get to see the real rooms and not just the best room the hotel has posted and cleaned. good luck enjoy your trip
