You should always follow the pneumonia ABC. Airway, Breathing, Circulation. The most important step in treating a victim of shock is ensuring that they have a patent airway. The next step is to ensure that the victim is breathing adequately. Then, the victim's pulse should be assessed and any active bleeding should be controlled with direct pressure.
if a person is in shock you would first raise his or her feet.
For a person in shock:
Traumatic shock- not electrical shock- results when blood supply to the brain is decreased. Place the patient in a horizontal position, if the legs are not injured, raise the feet so they are slightly higher than the head, and prevent the person from losing body heat (cover the person) Fluids may be given by mouth or by IV is some cases- but never give anything by mouth to a person with an injury to the stomach or intestines, and never give anything my mouth to an unconscious person. Seek medical attention promptly.
raise there lower extremeties and speak to them to keep them from passing out
What type of shock is it?
Keep the victim warm. If his face is red raise his head. If his face is pale raise his tail. Also don't ever give a person who is in shock food or water!! The best way to treat shock is to treat the injury or illness.
Confused and dieoriented behavior
It depends on their injuries. Treat them the same as you would any other trauma patient- stabilize their head and neck, splint any broken bones, treat for bleeding and/or shock, etc.
To ensure that you are safe.
Control any bleeding
Respect the victim by executing the offender.
You should treat for shock whenever a victim has experienced trauma or psychologically shocking events. In the absense of other evidence, you should generally assume your victim will get shocky. Remmeber that even the uninjured will sometimes fall into shock during a trauma call. This is a safe assumption to make, as first aid treatment for shock is harmless.
