What is the most probable cause of small hard sometimes painful acne like bumps on the neck behind the ear lobes and around the hairline?

I used to have these too, along with black heads/cysts at the base of the earlobes, behind the ear. I quit drinking milk, quit eating anything with sugar in it, and most of this stuff has cleared up. One time I had to have a steroid shot to clear up a hard pimply like bump on the back of my head. If it weren't for the pain, it would have felt like a tumor growing.
Most likely it is due to a allergic reaction to a shampoo, other hair product, soap, etc. It's possible the shampoo or soap is not being completely rinsed out also. Using only hypo-allegenic products may help allieviate symptoms.
There is a new STD going around that causes you to get a neck lump, that's just what I heard
There is NOT a new std that causes a neck lump. Your symptoms do not sound like any std I've ever heard of - I wouldn't worry too much about the lumps around your hairline. As posted above, it's likely an allergic reaction to soap/shampoo

Maybe you just have a weird case of acne like how sometimes people get pimples on theri back and neck and hairline.My mom gets those and I do too. Even my Boyfriend is like that.Its not uncommon.

If you have long hair...and you pull your hair up alot like me I'm in the military and sometimes when I pull my hair to tight for work I will get bumps around the hairline. They hurt. But STD is the stupidest answer lol

∙ 14y agoWell if your talking about bumpson your earyour period is coming on and bumps in between your ear and head these lumps are extensions of your tonsil lymph nodes. they are sensitive and it just is a sign of a sinus infection

i have the same problem. it should be normal because there most likely period bumps but i dont know why they appear on your scalp. there mostly always on my hairline I break out too before my period, but never on my scalp; however, all women are different. I break out on my back sometimes.
