Eyjafjallajokull is the real name. NOT Stromboli and definitely not Etna ...Don't be naive to these fools!

There is not really a ranking of 10 most active volcanoes, only the most active which would be Mount Etna in Italy. However, below is a list of European volcanoes on the Decade list (a list that includes volcanoes with the most violent eruptions near heavily populated areas).

1. Mount Etna (without a doubt the most active volcano in Europe; Italy)

2. Santorini (Greece)

3. Teide (Spain)

4. Mount Vesuvius (Italy)

So as you can see, most of the active volcanoes are spread throughout the Mediterranean, however, Iceland is also an active place for volcanoes.

Mount Vesuvius., Stromboli and Mount Etna are all active volcanoes in Europe. Iceland also has a significant number of active volcanoes (the most recent eruption being that of Grímsvötn in 2004) due to it's location on the Mid Atlantic Ridge.
