Tux does not correspond precisely to any real-world penguin species. Torvalds was inspired to have a penguin as a mascot after an attack by a Fairy Penguin. In appearance, Tux most closely resembles the Adelie Penguin.
The name of the penguin mascot is Tux the Penguin, or just Tux for short.
Linus Torvalds' favorite animal is the penguin. He was even bitten by one during a visit to the zoo. Thus he chose Tux as the Linux logo and it stuck.
Because Linus Torvalds like penguins.
It was selected from a logo contest.
Tux
A penguin named Tux is the Linux mascot.
Tux the penguin.
The official name of the Linux mascot is "Tux". The name supposedly was the result of on-line discussions on what to name the Penguin (which had already been established as the default logo for LINUX because Linus Torvalds "like[s] penguins") As far as we know, the post establishing the name came from James Hughes: Re: Let's name the penguin! (was: Re: Linux 2.0 really _is_ released..) . James Hughes (jamesh@interpath.com) Mon, 10 Jun 1996 20:25:52 -0400 . (T)orvolds (U)ni(X) --> TUX! In all likelihood it stuck because it was a clever linking of the elements of LINUX to the appearance of a penguin, e.g. they look a bit like they are wearing a black tuxedo with a white shirt.
it is TUX
Linux is an Operating System Kernel which was created by Linus Torvalds and other assistants around the world. Tux is a penguin which is the mascot of Linux.
The idea for a penguin as the Linux mascot was spawned around May 9, 1996. I believe that would make him a Taurus.
The official 'mascot' of Linux is Tux, the penguin. You can find complete information herehttp://www.sjbaker.org/wiki/index.php?title=The_History_of_Tux_the_Linux_Penguin

Linux is, as you noted, an operating system. It is not a game so it does not have a main character. However, different distributions have different mascots. For example, the mascot for SUSE Linux is a lizard of some sort. The mascot for Linux in general is usually stated to be a penguin named Tux
Juilliard's mascot is a penguin..... I think that is really odd
You can't. DJ Cadence is not a rank, its the name of a club penguin mascot.
Yes, the mascot is the penguin.
