There are two pieces of cloth used in a regular nun's habit on her head. The first is a Wimple. This is usually white, it can be pleated or loose. It comes up under the chin, completely covers the head and falls like a bib in a half moon shape off the shoulders. The second would be the veil proper, which might have an underveil. In many orders the underveil was white, the overveil was white for novices (first year nuns who had just received the habit) and black for professed sisters. This is usually just a large clothe that hangs down the sides and the back off the head. Some orders wore a coronet instead of a veil. I believe the Sisters of Charity in France used to wear a distinctive coronet similar to the one worn by the "Flying Nun" in the old TV series.
A Religious Habit is a head cloth worn by nuns.

A:No. It is believed to be a medieval forgery. But even if it really did date from the first century and really came from Jerusalem, it would only prove that someone was crucified and buried in that shroud. The Romans crucified thousands of men in Jerusalem. The shroud appears to be a single piece of cloth that draped over the entire body, including the head. John's Gospel tell us that the cloth was wrapped around Jesus, not draped, and that there was a separate cloth covering his head, as was Jewish custom in the first century.
by doing this they increase the area of contact of load with their head , so the pressure on their head is reduced.
