Wai is the name of the traditional greeting of Thailand. The Wai is not just a form of greeting which is used to greet people but also a symbol of respect. They demonstrate the importance of values and attitudes through the form of Wai. It is also believed that the Wai is a social custom in Thailand.

Wai also demonstrates a superiority rule. As like when people meet and greet each other, one of the person has the superiority feeling while the other assumes an inferior position.
