What is the oldest sport? |
World's Second Oldest Sport
Soccer is the oldest sport, for it was played by the Aztecs in Mexico. You may have seen the ancient ruins of a court with two hoops. That was the earliest form of soccer!
Another Thought
This may sound a little off, but wouldn't hiking be the world's oldest sport? Our early ancestors spent a lot of time doing just that, without even knowing that they were taking part in a sport that would be very popular among later generations of humans.
World's Oldest Sport
World's oldest "sport" is not soccer nor hiking. Hiking was not even considered a sport back then, so you cant really say that it is the world's oldest sport. World's oldest sport is wrestling. It might not have been the exact same type of wrestling we do today, but there is many similarities.
before soccer, there was just football, it Varied from a running game where the ball was carried and kicked and the rules depended on which part of England your were from, the Aztecs played a game that was carried and kicked and bore no resembelance to soccer which was born in Covent Garden in London in 1862 out of the desire to bring in two Laws, one to eliminate handling of the ball by the hands the other to eliminate tripping, however in Melbourne Victoria in 1858 Australia, Rules were bought into force for a game that resembled an Aboriginal game called Marn Grook Called Victorian Rules Later to be Known as Aussie Rules, this was the first Codefied form of Football and is possibly the oldest professional form of Football in the world
